Josh Winkler:
My work observes the fantastic realities of places. From flawed histories of North America and its peoples, to an examination of the contemporary anomalous, my images emphasize a swollen disconnect between contemporary Americans and the history of the land we have so quickly managed to both inhabit and inhibit. I’m more interested in a creative perspective of place than a photographic reality. Connecting poetic personal experiences to the realities of contemporary concrete locations creates a hybrid fantastic environment of introspection and revelation.

Kit Leffler:
My work questions the belief that humankind is the pre-eminent species, and disputes that humankind has uninterrupted dominion over the natural environment. This sculptural work finds inspiration in the apocalyptic writings of Margaret Atwood and John Wyndham. Wyndham muses in his novel The Day of the Triffids that, “One of the race’s most persistent and comforting hallucinations is to trust that one’s own time and place is beyond cataclysm.” In viewing this work I invite the viewer to consider the human drive to exert power over other species and on the natural environment: what will it look like when nature fights back?
